The 2023 Kia EV6 was a good electric car itself, making an excellent appearance in the market. Now, it gets a facelift. So, does it get better than before? Well, the electric SUV already boasts good practicality and is quite pleasant to drive with a reasonable range. Along with these, there are new looks, an updated interior, a new battery, and new tech. Let’s dive into all the nitty-gritty of changes.
Styling Changes
The front of the EV6 has been updated to reflect the family-led design by its new brothers, the EV9 and the EV3 and EV5, which will follow. It looks pretty refreshed with this new headlight design. When you order the car in GT-Line or GT-Line S models, you get a light bar installed up front. You get adaptive LED lights as well, so that’s nice.

Going down, it is slightly wider than before. It makes it look very aggressive. This gloss black panel at the back has sharper edges. It gives a sporty feel to it. It’s not some drastic styling change. The shape and size remain the same for the car. This means, in every sense, it fits into the category of an electric SUV. It does compete against cars like the Skoda Enyaq or the Tesla Model Y or even the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Battery and Range Improvements
The biggest difference is within the battery. The battery type has changed from the old 77.4 kWh to the new 84 kWh. Larger yet lighter in weight, this translates well to better range. An official 361 miles for the rear-wheel drive, this model has increased from its predecessor at 328 miles. The all-wheel drive brings an official 324 miles, an improvement of 24 miles from its predecessor.

Though the Renault Scenic has more room, the EV6 is still killing it in this regard. Charges rates have also been improved. The highest charging rate for the car is 258 kW, up from 239 kW. Consequently, the top-up to 10 to 80% only takes 18 minutes. The charge time is the same, but you get a bigger battery for it now.
Interior Updates
Inside, the infotainment system is reworked. It’s now more or less like the one in the Kia EV9, with crisp graphics and sharp layout. Climate controls are intuitive; use of physical dials makes adjustments pretty much a no-brainer at any speed.
However, the driver display will be partly hidden by the steering wheel. That is a little drawback. Anyway, some of the newer models got a two-tone color scheme for the steering wheel. Meanwhile, the interior trim material was also upgraded. Gloss black plastics are no longer used and were replaced with polished textured plastics. These new materials have a much more pleasant appearance and feel. At least, the interior has become a little nicer as well.

Tech and Practicality
The EV6 now supports over-the-air updates. This means, for example, if there’s a software update improving charging speed or range, you won’t be required to visit a dealer for it. You’ll also be able to appreciate wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car can also make your smartphone turn into a digital key.
Good layout and usability. Great big armrest, plenty of space underneath to put things. Loads of storage boxes, wireless charging phone support. If you’re going to try and push lots of passengers into this, it’s a decent ride. The rear seats offer pretty good leg- and headroom. Three adults can fit in the back with no discomfort.
Boot Space and Configurations
Boot space is 490 liters. Decent but, for a car of this size, pretty mediocre. You’ll get seven carry-on suitcases in the back, but not as many as you’ll get with the Tesla Model Y or ID.4. The boot is sensibly shaped, but there is some underfloor storage and a place to store the parcel shelf.

2023 Kia EV6 Review – Better Than Ever?
Options for the EV6 abound. The entry-level model gives you enough for your money, with climate control and heated seats being useful inclusions. The GT-Line has sportier visuals and actually raises comfort to a higher level. Finally, the top GT-Line S has more luxury features but costs you more.
Driving Experience
Driving experience still pretty comparable to the previous model. Once again, it offers rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The rear-wheel drive configuration has a wider range and costs less. The all-wheel drive configuration is faster but places the range on the poorer side.
The EV6 is more sporty than ultra-comfy. The steering and body control are decent. Ride can be slightly firm, especially over poorer roads. Still, overall, it is pretty comfortable after all.
Safety and Technology Features
For instance, the pesky speed limiting alert in the EV6 can be disabled on one step. No diving through menus necessary-this is achieved by holding down the volume button for three seconds. It’s one of the easiest ways to personalize your driving experience.
Final Thoughts
The Kia EV6 is already an excellent electric car. But after these updates, it is even better. Minor changes make an already excellent car even more excellent. Its range and fast charging qualify it. Nor can one argue against the nice interior design. It will surely be one of the best solid electric SUVs.
