Action film ‘Jigra’ directed by Vasan Bala and starring Alia Bhatt was released on October 11. Critics bashed the movie, but this critiquing didn’t reflect on the box office collections. According to the trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Jigra’ made roughly ₹4.5 crore on its first day. This Dharma Entertainment film was produced by Karan Johar.
Before ‘Jigra’, Dharma had announced that they will quit hosting press shows. Traditionally, a press show allows the media personalities to view the film a day in advance, but Dharma seems to have done away with that now.
A controversy began brewing on social media after ‘Jigra’ released. It was alleged that the story of ‘Jigra’ was borrowed from another film titled ‘Savi’, that was released in May 2024. The film is directed by Abhinav Dev and had Divya Khosla and Anil Kapoor.
After ‘Jigra’, Divya Khosla told a suspicious story. She said that her theatre was completely empty. She further mentioned that all the theatres were empty across all the places.
She said, “Alia Bhatt really has a lot of ‘Jigra’ guts. She bought tickets herself and still flaunted fake collections”. She did raise a question as to why media was keeping mum on this issue.

Adding some hashtags to the story, Divya wrote: “Don’t fool the audience. Truth always prevails over lies.” She did not mention anyone specifically, but people knew very well that she was talking about Alia and ‘Jigra’.
The Similarities Between ‘Jigra’ and ‘Savi’
In both ‘Jigra’ and ‘Savi’, the plot has quite resemblance to each other. In ‘Savi’, the character of Harshvardhan Rane goes to jail. Then his wife plans his release. Divya acted in that role.
In ‘Jigra’, there also Vedang Raina’s character goes behind the bars. In this film, Alia Bhatt enacted as his sister who tries for his release.
This controversy has thus far not gone beyond social media. The makers of the film have been accused of copying the story by the public. No one from the film fraternity has spoken regarding the claims till date. However, now is the time that a response is given.
The ‘Jigra’ team, at the time of writing this has not responded to Divya’s claims. That is indeed quiet because the claims made by Divya seem not so small.
People Reaction toward the Controversy
The public, it seems, has been vocal over its opinion with regard to the two films and the purported similarities between them. Social media went abuzz with opinions when some level-headed supporters believed Divya Bhatnagar’s claims while others took up cudgels on behalf of Alia and ‘Jigra’.

Divya Khosla Kumar’s Bold Claims Against Alia Bhatt’s Film ‘Jigra’
There has been a lot of discussion regarding this issue by the fans of both actresses. Both sides hold considerable argumentative points in favor of their favorite. Some believe it is some kind of publicity stunt by Divya, and others feel it’s too close to be ignored.
In the debate that follows, this subject matter initiated talk not only about these two films but also about the greater issue of originality in Bollywood. Most people are questioning whether filmmakers are taking creative shortcuts and not coming up with original stories.
What’s Next for Both Films?
Whether this controversy will boost the box office numbers for the continued run of ‘Jigra’ in theaters remains to be seen but, as of now, its team needs to address the allegations so that viewer trust may be ensured.
On the other hand, with Divya Khosla Kumar’s ‘Savi’, this controversy may also work well. If people are to be interested in the comparison, they might search for ‘Savi’ to see how it is different from ‘Jigra’.

It would, therefore, appear that the challenge is more on the part of filmmakers in ensuring that they give out something original in an industry usually called to recycle ideas. It also shows how information spreads rapidly on social media and then puts it under the spotlight for public debate.
Interestingly, how Divya and Alia will react to this controversy, as their story continues to unfold, will be something that fans and film buffs closely watch and see into what it portends for the future of her respective films.
