He has a long life of political work experience, which dated back from his youth period. He remained a member of the Congress party throughout most of his life. Moreover, he was also an MLA for three consecutive periods in the Maharashtra Assembly as he won elections in 1999, 2004, and 2009 respectively.
In 2004, he was inducted as the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies in the Maharashtra government. He held influential positions, one of which was Vice President of the Mumbai Congress Committee. He was known to be very close to local politics and apparently well connected in Bollywood.

Tragedy indeed struck the life of Baba Siddique who was shot in Mumbai on 13th October 2024. He was attacked in the Bandra area and taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he eventually succumbed. The news of his death triggered a shock wave across the political and Bollywood fraternity.
His relations with Bollywood celebrities were quite strong. In fact, it was famous for hosting Iftar parties during the month of Ramadan, which saw the gathering of several popular Bollywood actors. The parties were essentially social gatherings but also sought to bridge differences between the two communities. His parties hosted many big stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Sanjay Dutt.
One such significant event would be when he mediated a reconciliation between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The two have been at war for five years, and the fight was publicized. It all began in 2008, after a heated argument at a birthday celebration. Nevertheless, during one of Siddique’s Iftar parties last year, he once again had seated Shah Rukh next to Salman’s father, Salim Khan. This set up facilitated the two actors to get to each other and finally to embrace one another, a moment that defined many of their fans.
A Political Career
Baba Siddique entered politics when he was a mere 17 years old. He has been twice elected to the Mumbai Swiss body, once in 1992 and the second time in 1997. His constituency was Bandra West-a very important area of the city, famous for its Bollywood connections. With a three-decade political career, he was something of an institution, feted for his dedication and service to the community.

He has undertaken several issues during his period, including food supply and civil rights. From the year 2000 to 2004, he was the member of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority. His work has striven to ameliorate many of the living conditions among Mumbaikars.
Relationships with Bollywood
More than a politician, Baba Siddique was the bridge between politics and Bollywood. His Iftar parties became famous, and many stars attended them. But that was then; it was not about the food alone but bringing people together. It was a platform for discussions as much as for networking and nurturing friendships.
Many Bollywood celebrities have expressed their grief over the death and misery. Salman Khan was shooting Bigg Boss at that time; he called a halt to his shooting to visit the hospital and see Siddique’s family. This reflects how much respect he enjoyed and how attached he was to the people.
Becoming a people’s personality requires a lot of ability to understand the masses, and this is where Siddique differs. He knew how to play in a world of celebrity and politics; otherwise, it would be unthinkable to be an individual like him.
