Big Update for PlayStation Portal users! The PS Portal just received a big update. Now, you can use cloud gaming! Yes, you can stream games directly from the cloud. This means you don’t have to connect to your console anymore to play your favorite games. However, if you connect to your console first, this won’t work. But don’t worry, we have cloud streaming beta now. This lets you stream directly to the PS Portal.
To use this new feature, make sure you have the latest version of the system. If you haven’t updated yet, do it now! You can turn on the feature in the settings menu, which is easy to find. Once you’re in, you will see many games to choose from. In total, there are up to 120 PS5 games available for you!

What Games Can You Play?
These games are part of the PlayStation Plus catalog. Some popular titles include:
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Marvel’s Spider-Man
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Monster Hunter World
- Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Edition
This is just a sneak peek of the games available. The full list is impressive! You will find many great games to enjoy.
How to Get Started
To start using cloud streaming, ensure you have a good internet connection. Here are the speed requirements:
- For 720p streaming, you need a minimum of 5 megabits per second (Mbps).
- For 1080p streaming, you need at least 13 Mbps.
Once you meet these requirements, you can enjoy a smooth gaming experience. The quality of the stream has been impressive, but there are some things to note.
Performance and Quality
When you start playing, it might take about a minute to get everything ready. But once it’s up, the quality is really good! I have been impressed with how it looks and feels. You can play games in 1080p, which is awesome. The sound from the speakers is also surprisingly good. However, you will need to connect your headphones with a wire since Bluetooth is not supported. You can use either wired headphones or PlayStation wireless headphones.

Internet Speed Requirements
For the best experience, you need a good internet connection. Here are the speed requirements:
- Minimum 5 Mbps for basic streaming
- 7 Mbps for 720p streaming
- 13 Mbps for 1080p streaming
If your internet is slow, you might have some trouble. I found that after about 20 minutes of play, the connection would sometimes drop. This is frustrating! It seems to happen every time around that time. The connection can go from good to bad really fast, and you might get kicked out of the game. I hope they can fix this in future updates.
Game Testing and Issues
While testing, I noticed some pixelation, especially in racing games. For example, I tried playing Forza Horizon 5. There was some pixelation that made it hard to see the track clearly. This is something they need to improve. Fast-paced games need better compression to work smoothly.

Overall Impressions
Overall, I am impressed with how PlayStation is handling cloud gaming. The PS Portal is doing a great job! However, I think they will focus on the PS Portal for now. This means we might not see updates for browser versions or PC streaming anytime soon. They want to push the PS Portal as the main device for this feature.
So, do you have a PS Portal? Or are you waiting for an anniversary edition? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this update! What do you think about cloud gaming on the PS Portal? Thank you for reading, and see you next time!
