In this week’s movie CTRL and The Signature review, we take a look at two important films. These films illustrate how life or death decisions are made. The first film is called “The Signature.” As the name would indicate, one always notices such a signature on consent forms in hospitals. This is when doctors request one’s authorization to treat very sick patients. The movie tells a serious story regarding how the hospitals can take advantage of these situations. It shows how a middle-class man does everything in his power to save a dying patient.

Anupam Kher plays the protagonist. His wife is in a critical condition. He cannot let his wife die at any cost. The film tells the financial and emotional predicament that he faces while going through the time.
One good thing about the movie is its performance. Anupam Kher, however, could not exhibit his entire range in this movie. The other actors have performed pretty averagely too. You wonder, then, whether they had a small budget to make this movie. Nevertheless, the movie’s narrative is emotional. If you have been in such a situation in life, you could find something that connects you to it. However, the presentation of the narrative lacks some depth.

MOVIE REVIEW: CTRL and The Signature
The movie has a length of an hour and 36 minutes. Since there is no foul language nor scenes, you would be comfortable watching it with your family. However, if you are very emotional, you might shed tears in some of the heart-wrenching scenes. I give this movie 2.5 out of 5 stars.
Now, the second film “CTRL.” It’s pretty much a different film. First of all, Ananya Panday is there. 15-20 minutes into the film, I was getting a little bored. The way all the characters are just going through the motions; it doesn’t make sense. The shocking concept of this film is where it dives deep into how our technology and social media affect our lives daily.
The movie tells us what happens when we open the door for an application to enter our lives. It shows how one of these applications may play with our emotions. Companies exploit one’s feelings; and most of the time, we don’t know where our data is going. It addresses deep fakes and artificial intelligence. It explains how the same technology may be helpful and worthless.

However, I found that CTRL actually managed to highlight the darker facets of technology and social media. It starts slow, and then it brings turns and twists that keep you hooked. A couple of these turns have a somewhat predictable nature, but they were only meant to add more impact to the overall story. This film could have gone deeper into its dark themes. It could have portrayed more reality and the way technology has affected our life.
The editing of this movie is quite good. There are very few swearing words, and no intimate scenes either. So, you can watch it with your family too without any tensions. I would also give this movie 2.5 out of 5 stars.

In a nutshell, both films deal with serious issues. While “The Signature” deals with heavy psychological battles of life and death, “CTRL” tells how we all control technology in our lives. Both have the potential to be beautiful with their own strengths and weaknesses; however, they sure make you look into topics with interesting depth that you otherwise wouldn’t have even brought up.
