The McLaren W1 is a new hypercar. Very powerful and pretty fast! The best and quickest accelerating road car that McLaren has ever made. This hypercar comes after the famous McLaren P1. W1 is part of a new generation of Holy Trinity hypercars. It will be competing with the new LaFerrari and the future successor to the Porsche 918.
Design and Features
Not an easy task – creating an all-new flagship hypercar. The design of the W1 doesn’t get any better grades. A two-tone version of the McLaren Senna would be what the sides resembled. The front talks about the Speedtail and McLaren Saber. Some say it does not have the same wow-factor as P1. What do you think? Let us know below,

Sublime Powertrain
The W1 boasts a brand new V8 engine. The engine is exciting, coming in at 4.0 liters like other McLarens, but will rev up to 9,200 RPM. This is a whopping 700 RPM more than the P1! This new engine now produces 928 horsepower.
The W1 is also a hybrid. That means it has an electric motor, too. The hybrid system adds 347 horsepower. Added together, the overall power is 1,275 horsepower and 1,340 Nm of torque. Way stronger than the old P1!

Lightweight Design
McLaren wants the W1 light. It weighs a mere 1,399 kg. That is much lighter than even the Ferrari SF90 as well as the Lamborghini Revuelto. That allows the W1 to enjoy a power-to-weight ratio of as high as 911 horsepower per ton. That number is impressive!
As part of its weight-saving effort, McLaren has been using a new trick: it is one of the first cars to use parts that are 3D printed and also features special suspension up front. The W1 has fixed seats but is taken along by adjustable pedals, which help reduce weight and make the car more drivable.

Interior and Controls
The inner side of the W1 is unique. It comes with many switches along the roof, just like in a private jet. There are only two buttons on the steering wheel. This is unlike every other car, as there are several buttons. The buttons change the performance of the car.
The McLaren uses hydraulic power steering. That makes it feel very organic when driving at higher speeds. But the W1 does not have butterfly doors, unlike the P1. It, instead, has going doors, which helps with airflow.
Performance and Speed
The W1 could cruise with a top speed of up to 60 mph within 2.7 seconds. Thus, it is faster than the P1 and slower than the Ferrari SF90.

After the W1 gets underway, it is simply rocket like. It shot from 0 to 124 mph in 5.8 seconds. That is merely a half second quicker than the Ferrari SF90. Of course, you could even go from 0 to 186 mph in less than 12.7 seconds! That is faster than a Bugatti Chiron.
Its maximum velocity is 217 mph. That’s quick enough for most of us! In addition to having a high top speed, the W1 is also designed for corners. It can lap the Nardo Handling Circuit 3 seconds quicker than the McLaren Senna.
Aerodynamics
What makes W1 advantage in corners? As expected of any supercar, the car showcases impressive aerodynamics. It features a ground effect system similar to those used in F1. It minimizes the car from hanging off the road so that grip is maximized.

The W1 has an enormous rear wing that can swivel. In race mode, it produces 650 kg of downforce. Together with the front spoiler, it achieves 1,000 kg of downforce at 174 mph!
There are two buttons in the steering wheel which help to enhance performance. One is utilised to deliver swift surges of power, and the other to reduce drag and speed up.
Price and Availability
How much does the W1 cost? It starts from £2 million in post-tax pounds in the UK. There is, however, a catch! All 399 W1 cars have already sold out. You may have to wait for quite some time if you need one!
