My iPhone Experience with Apple Support

Hello friends, today I am going to share my experience with the iPhone 12 which I have been carrying since its Big Billion Day sale in 2021. The device has been with me for a few days, but last week, I began to face some issues with that. Let’s start!

Chapter 1: Background Story

Every year, such fantastic sales happen where one can buy some amazing deal on phones. I bought the 128 GB version when it was available for less than 50,000 rupees. My sister gifted me this iPhone 12, and I got very excited about having one. But within a period of time, models like iPhone 13, 14, and now even 15 began entering the market. The temptation in itself to switch over to a new model was strong enough, but I was happy enough having my iPhone 12.

Chapter 2: The Problem

Fast forward to 2023, when I wanted to revive my iPhone 12. Initially, everything went well. I updated my phone, and to my astonishment, white lines begin to appear on its screen. This was very maddening. I needed to call the customer care in order to find out what the problem was.

Chapter 3: The Experience of the Service Center

I went to the customer care center and they wanted me to go to an authorized service center. I kind of felt a little odd, as you would with a doctor’s appointment! So, at the service center, I explained them the situation. They asked if my phone is still under warranty. I said, “No.” They quoted me a price of about 27,000 rupees for the repair. I thought that was way too much for the phone looking so great.

I was really shocked because nobody had viewed the cell phone properly; its battery health was at 96% and looked almost brand new. I called customer care number a second time, in which they affirmed that I would pay for the service as it is not covered by any warranty. I couldn’t believe it!

Chapter 4: Personal Experience

It was really maddening to discover that I had to pay for that amount of money to get it fixed. I understand that any company has its weaknesses, but I could not help but think that since it is Apple, they were more in duty to have it corrected when it is still only two years since it was purchased. Having weighed my options against this, I decided not to spend the amount to have it costly and consider my other choices.

Chapter 5: Considering Options

After a few days, I realized the phone was operating fine except for the screen. So, I started to look around in the local repair shops for someone to replace the screen for a meager price. I found a shop which charged 5,000 rupees for repairing and that was much cheaper than what the service center was offering. The tension was let out of my system!

I took my phone to the shop and watched them change the screen. The screen opens the back of the phone and works on it in your face. After a few hours, my phone was brand new! They gave me tempered glass and even a back cover as a gift, which came like a big surprise.

Chapter 6 Conclusion

So, in short, after all of this, I did learn a few very important lessons related to buying and repairing phones. For those who are going to carry their iPhone with them for a long period, it is worth securing some sort of AppleCare for added protection, of course. Check the warranty and remember that no brand, whether Apple or not, is immune from problems. In case your phone is already out of warranty, do not be afraid to find local repair options which would help you save money.
