Katie Thurston, beloved star of Bachelor Nation, has recently shared an update that has deeply resonated with fans and followers alike. In a heartfelt Instagram video, she revealed that her battle with breast cancer has escalated, as it has now spread to her liver, resulting in a stage 4 diagnosis.
In a video posted to Instagram on March 28, she stated, “Unfortunately, in my case, [a PET scan] did detect some spots on my liver that were a little suspicious,” As a result, I had to have a liver biopsy to check for the spread of my disease. I just learned today that my breast cancer had spread to my liver after waiting for days.
She said, “It is fairly small,” “However, that does put me at stage 4.”
According to Thurston, her latest course of treatment, which will involve chemotherapy, will start on April 4.
The 34-year-old went on, “I know stage 4 can sound very scary, and it can be,” “However, given that I am triple-positive and the spots on my liver are fairly small and detected early, I feel very optimistic on my outcome.”

According to Breastcancer.org, Thurston was diagnosed 43 days ago with triple-positive breast cancer, which is driven by the HER2 protein and the hormones progesterone and estrogen. As of right now, the condition is in stage 4, which means it is “serious” and needs “immediate expert care,” according to the City of Hope cancer clinic.
The day after Valentine’s Day, Thurston made her cancer diagnosis public for the first time, a day that was both heartbreaking and significant to her and her then-fiance Jeff Arcuri.
The reality star posted, “Yesterday I saw all the couples post their Valentines Day celebrations,” on Instagram on February 15. To be honest, I felt jealous. After Jeff took me to Hawaii, we planned to travel the world before settling down in New York City. However, since I need to return to Los Angeles for additional tests and treatment, I spent my Vday organizing a place to reside.
“I used my morning to figure out insurance for NYC and laws on preexisting conditions,” she said. “I scheduled appointments for another biopsy, fertility, mental health, surgery, as well as meeting with my team to discuss the overall treatment plan, which will include chemo.”
However, after physicians found the lesions in Thurston’s liver, her treatment was put on hold this week.
However, Thurston has been able to rely on Arcuri, whom she married at their house on March 22, for support at every stage of her cancer fight.
